A part-time medical school admissions advisor (remote) works with clients through the medical school preparation and admissions process. A successful advisor will possess strong communication and organizational skills, detailed knowledge about medical schools and trends in medical school admissions processes, and experience working with college students or other individuals through the medical school admission process. Advisors work within a team environment with other advisors and essay coaches.  

The position reports to the Health Sciences Team Lead. Location and hours are flexible, but advisors must attend one team meeting every other week and coordinate their meeting schedules with clients. The position will evolve over time as the ideal candidate will take our current practices and expand and enhance them.

Clients may sign up to do hourly advising, or may sign up for pre-health advising (if they are still in college and not yet applying), or for our comprehensive program, which includes support for applicants throughout the process of applying to medical school. 

Part-time medical school advisors work includes: 

Direct Services (80%)

• Work with clients through all aspects of the medical school admission process
• Keep accurate records of work with clients and document advice given
• Make use of publicly available data to inform advice and expertise

Professional Development (10%)

• Regularly participate in professional development opportunities, including regional and national conferences and engagement in professional associations
• Keep current on current trends in college admissions
• Develop trainings and educational materials for self and others on the team

Resource Development (10%)

• Write blogs, present at conferences & events, and assist with other marketing efforts
• Develop relationships with university-based advisors or other partners, as appropriate
